William Menninger , monje trapense, se ordenó en 1958 y fue destinado a la diócesis de Yakima (Washington), donde trabajó durante seis años en una reserva india. En 1979 fue transferido al monasterio de St. Benedicts de Snowmass (Colorado), donde sirvió como prior, director de vocaciones, maestro de novicios, y profesor de teología y de Sagrada Escritura.
