Im vorliegenden Buch werden Entwicklungen der romischen Geschichtsschreibung bis in die christliche Spatantike dargelegt. Dabei werden aus der Uberzeugung heraus, dass romische Historiographie vor allem durch den gemeinsamen Gegenstand Rom zu definieren ist, fur die romische Kaiserzeit griechischsprachige Autoren aus dem Osten des Mittelmeerraums einbezogen, vor allem soweit in ihren Werken Rom bzw. das Romische Reich thematisiert ist.
