Zustand: Very Good. xx, 490, b/w illus. . HB. Vg in d/w. With a foreword by Sir Peter Scott. Illustrated by the award-winning artist, Darren Rees. Over one hundred birds of the Western Palearctic bear English or Latin names that commemorate people, but few people know who these people were, and why their names became attached to the various species. This fascinating book portrays ninety-one people from Aristotle to Charles Cory to Pehr Gustaf Tengmalm, together with their life history, achievements and the species named after them. Every species is illustrated with a line drawing by Darren Rees. A marvellous blend of vivid, ironical description and much fascinating information. [9780124874220].…
