569 pages. Pictorial hardcover published without a dust jacket. Profusely illustrated. The largest of the three Meadows automatic pistols volumes. The third and final volume on U.S. Military Automatic Pistols by Scott Meadows. This book covers all of the handguns used from 1945 to 2012. The book is based on information from miliatry records and publications, direct contact with military personnel and manufacturer's representatives. Information was also agathered from other collectors, books and articles. The book is divided into six parts. Part I covers the post-war use of the Model 1911/1911A1 pistol which remained the standard sidearm until the adoption of the Bereta M9 in 1985. Part II covers variations and modifications to the M1911A1 pistol made by either government or private entities for specific uses within the military system. Part III deals with the development of 9m/m pistols within the U.S military resulting in the adoption of the Beretta M9 and the procrement of the Sig-Sauer P226 and P228. Part IV covers pistols designed to be used for a special or specific purpose and includes the Colt Model M, the Offensive Handgun System (OHS) and the Modular Handgun System (MHS). Part V encompasses those handguns of various calibers that are used for training and match shooting. Finally, Part VI includes those handguns which don't fit well into any of the preceding categories but are, nevertheless, part of the story. An excellent and detailed reference book. Out of print for quite a while and quite Scarce. The top front and back corners of the covers are very lightly tapped. The first twenty or so pages have some very light creasing close to the book gutter. Possibly came that way from the publisher. The book is clean and the binding is solid. The Book looks like it's unread. Overall a Near Fine copy. An opportunity to own a Very Scarce title at a reasonable price.
