Top corners of binding slightly bumped. Otherwise a FINE copy. --- --- "Between 1927 and 1933 the Curwen Press produced a series of wallpapers that challenged an industry dominated by a few manufacturers, and a public often anxious for change but uncertain where it wished to be led. Nearly all of these papers were the work of Edward Bawden. [His and other artists'] experiments with the letterpress and lithographic facilities available at the Press occurred at the same time that it was producing some of the most distinguished everyday printing of their generation. In addition, pattern papers, many of them deriving from complex combinations of hand and machine processes, were printed at the Press from 1922 onward, and drew attention to some of its achievements by bringing its name before a public normally unaware of printers', rather than publishers', names. An album of these pattern papers, which found widespread use on bindings and publicity materials, was published in 1928 with an introduction by Paul Nash. Wallpapers, printed lithographically on the same presses as the pattern papers, cannot have seemed so very far off.".
