Korean art is relatively unknown in the West, but the V&A has collected a unique selection of objects which reflect both the solemn ritual of court life and the sympathy for natural materials which is the hallmark of Korean crafsmen. The earliest Korean artefacts in the V&A are from the Silla (57 BC - AD 9325), producers of sombre unglazed vessels with pierced pedestals.
