From the personal library of Mr. Robert Allen, bookseller and appraiser and also editor of a number of volumes of the The Eighteenth Century: a current bibliography, in a project headed at the University of Southern California, as conveyed to me by his widow, Ms Priscilla (Brownie) Allen. Extensively pencil-annotated, marks left in on purpose, as Mr. Allen was highly trained in bibliography. One of multiple reprintings of the Second Impression of 1928, the First Impression having been the year prior, itself having been based on a pamphlet from 1913 that he produced for his students. Still solidly bound, rubbing to, scuffing of spine head and foot, cracking to some of the rear backstrip. Previous owner's inscriptions at first free endpaper, Oxford University Press bookplate inside front flap, having been given to the previous owner by the Press rep, Ernest L. Hixson. All in, an unlovely but useful copy. xv, 359 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
