Paperback. Zustand: New. Language: English. About The Book: "The Kafirs of the Hindu-Kush" by George Scott Robertson, originally published in 1896, offers a comprehensive exploration of the author's travels through the Hindu-Kush region in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Focusing on the Kafir people, Robertson details their unique lan…guage, customs, and traditions, providing insights into their society and religion. The book delves into the region's history, tracing the origins of the Kafirs and their interactions with neighboring tribes. Robertson vividly describes the challenging landscape and discusses the Kafirs' struggle to preserve their cultural identity amid external pressures. This valuable work serves as an informative resource on the history and culture of Afghanistan and Pakistan, offering a must-read for anthropology enthusiasts. About The Author: Sir George Scott Robertson (18521916), a distinguished British soldier and author, achieved renown for leading an expedition to Kafiristan, present-day northeastern Afghanistan. His command during the Siege of Chitral highlighted his military prowess. The resulting book, "The Kafirs of the Hindu Kush" (1896), documented this arduous journey and is speculated to have inspired Rudyard Kipling's "The Man Who Would Be King," despite Kipling's earlier publication.
