After World War II, he became a commissioned officer and served in China. He later served in Korea, spent three years at Supreme Allied Command in Europe, and did numerous tours at the Pentagon. During the Vietnam War, he commanded the III Corps and left the country with the last troops in 1974. First edition of A History of Warfare by Field-Marshal Viscount Montgomery of Alamein, an association copy from Gen. Marshall B. Garth to Gen.
