The period covered by the images starts with the German air-raids of September 1st 1939, and concludes in Berlin on May 8th 1945 with the German surrender and the end of the war. The book is profusely illustrated throughout with countless finely printed b/w images in photogravure, displaying the resilience and bravery of the Polish resistance and Nazi aggression and brutality visited upon them.
