Signed pen and ink drawing on Whatman Water Colour Board depicting a BBC radio studio in which 3 children and an actor are recording a piece for Children's Hour watched by their parents and in the foreground by the director or announcer. Image size 285 x 215 mm (11.5 x 8.5 inches). A charming period piece, dated on the mount as 'Circa 1935' but possibly 1940s. Small shallow crease to lower left corner of mount, otherwise very good condition, mounted ready to frame. Donald Lionel Mays (b.1900) studied under E.J. Sullivan at Goldsmith's and is well known for his illustrations for the Jennings books of Anthony Buckeridge, several books by Streatfeild and Percy F. Westerman and one by Angela Brazil.
