In den WarenkorbOne of an edition of ten used books each with seventeen colour plates replacing the originals. Made as part of the October 2016 installation at Westminster Reference Library in London. The book is a 1953 printing of Bernard Berenson's The Italian Painters of the Renaissance published by The Phaidon Press. It is a small quarto in the original publisher's binding of brown buckram lettered brown on the spine and front panel without the original dustwrapper. The front panel has been stamped by the artists with their 12.5 x 7.5 logo stamp 'Bookend' with a space for the date left blank; the stamp recurs on the rear pastedown endpaper. A list of the new plates is tipped in at the half-title, giving page numbers and plate titles. The hand-printed giclee plates depict books in extreme states of damage or change such as 'Book eaten by snails' or 'Hole in book made with hot steel rod'. Otherwise the book is as originally published with a few early ownership marks on the endpapers.
