A handbook on the treatment and prevention of cholera by an eminent Spanish medical reformer who had firsthand experience of observing the disease during the London cholera epidemic in 1832-33 when he was honoured by… the British government for his services to public hygiene at Guys Hospital. The author states the causes, prevention and cure of cholera with sections on diet, personal hygiene, exercise and sanitation. Seoane had previously been public health commissioner in Valladolid. In 1833 he was elected member of the London and the Edinburgh Colleges of Physicians in recognition of his publications on public hygiene. On returning to Spain, where the disease had now spread from northern Europe, he was in an excellent position to advise on preventive and curative measures. An attractive copy. Palau 309167.
