8vo. ½ p. To a Mr. Le Coïs, inviting him to pick up a letter by the royal forest administrator Constantin-Marie-Louis-Léon, marquis de Bouthillier-Chavigny: "Le M.is [marquis] de Brézé invite monsieur Le Coïs à vouloir bien passer chez lui soit aujourd'hui sur les 5 heures, soit demain sur les 2 heures après midi, ayant à lui communiquer une lettre qu'il a reçu de M. le M.is de Bouthillier". - Henri-Evrard de Dreux-Brézé is most famous for his failure to enforce the royal order to dissolve the National Assembly on 23 June 1789 due to the resistance of the representatives of the Third Estate. According to legend, Mirabeau directly confronted Dreux-Brézé, telling him to inform the king that they will only leave by force. Dreux-Brézé continued to serve the royal household during their arrest in the Tuileries palace and emigrated to Switzerland in 1793. During the Restauration, he was reinstated in his court functions. - Traces of folds. With a minimal stain.
