Hardback dated 1843 first edition Scarce Bound in the publishers original green cloth with decorative green embossing to the front and rear boards and gilt titles to the spine The cloth is a little worn and has slightly discoloured in places the cloth has split along the outer hinges of the spine and is a little frayed along the top edge and base Internally the front free endpaper and possibly the halftitle page are missing The text block is a little loose with the boards although still attached are slightly pulling away The first four pages and two rear pages are loose with a closed tear to the title page There is a small piece missing to the corner of page 7 and a closed tear to the corner of page 9 The remaining pages are slightly toned with the occasional spot of foxing and thumb marks throughout however they are generally clean pp viii 213 publishers list A fragile although interesting little copy John Mason Neale was an English Anglican priest scholar and hymnwriter His most famous hymn is Good King Wenceslas which is set on Boxing Daynbsp. book.
