In fact, through the long campaigns of the Peninsular War, Wellington's cavalry was commanded by Stapleton Cotton, the subject of this book. Both volumes are clean and unfoxed, with marbled endpapers and all edges marbled. Frontispiece engraving of Combermere in Volume I and Stapleton Cotton (Viscount Combermere) as a young man in Volume 2. Tissue guards intact. Title page in each volume has small engraving.
