This Festschrift gives an image of Ore's influence in the landscape of research in the humanities based on digital methods. Ore and his team have engaged in this area, providing new types of access and new forms of cross disciplinary connections through the exploration of new methodologies, which in turn has caused change in the factual basis for humanist research. Ore's research interests include digitial humanities, cultural heritage informatics, lexicography, African languages, text encoding, the scholarly treatment of text, concept modelling, ontologies and information architecture. This volume is rich and broad in content, and no sense of the word lightweight fits to describe it. The book includes twelve articles in three sections: digital humanities, African lexicography, and Norwegian lexicography and language documentation. An important early article by Ore is included, as well as a bibliography of Christian-Emil Smith Ore's printed work.

166 pp.; 23.5 x 28 cm.; glue bound; black-and-white & color; edition size 500; unsigned and unnumbered; offset-printed "This book brings together new texts written to accompany 79 exhibitions organized by Bob Nickas between 1984 and 2011. Nickas chose one work to represent the memory of each exhibition, and through this visual "lens" he reflects on his activity as a curator, offering many behind-the-scenes views to the art world of the 1980s and 90s, as well as intimate recollections of the artists he worked with, and the art works he encountered over the years. The book, then, can be seen as a sort of memoir. Always placing the artists and their works within a social milieu, while also aware of how art travels across time, he reminds us that both lead multiple lives, as an exhibition can reanimate a work from the past, and occasion the discovery of forgotten and marginalized figures among those who are very well-known. This retrospective catalog is also in many ways an ideal exhibition -- or collection -- 27 years in the making." -- publisher''s statement. Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: Very good. Thomas H. John Staff Artist (illustrator). Presumed First Edition, First printing. xii, 235, [1] pages. Illustrated endpapers. Illustrations (a few in color). Map. Dornbusch 1348. Format is approximately 8.5 inches by 10.5 inches. This is the third volume of the history of the 2d U.S. Infantry Division in the Korean conflict. It covers the period 1 January 1953--31 December 1953. All efforts were directed to give adequate coverage to all units in the division and to present an accurate and objective account of their activities from the end of T-bone action 24, December 52 to the close of the year 1953. The account of tactical operations for infantry united was carried through until 31 December 1952, when the Division was relieved and moved into reserve. Emphasis was placed upon photographs to record forever this period of the Division's history for the men who lived it. The 2nd Infantry Division ("Indianhead"; "2ID," "2nd ID", or "Second D") is a formation of the United States Army. With the outbreak of hostilities in Korea during the summer of 1950, the 2nd Infantry Division was the first unit to reach Korea directly from the United States. The entire division was committed as a unit on 24 August 1950, relieving the 24th Infantry Division at the Naktong River Line. In the 16-day battle, the division's clerks, bandsmen, technical and supply personnel joined in the fight to defend against the attackers. The Chinese winter offensive was finally blunted by the 2nd Infantry Division on 31 January at Wonju. In February 1951, the division repulsed a powerful Chinese counter-offensive in the epic battles of Chipyong-ni and Wonju. In August 1951, it was on the offensive once again, ordered to attack a series of ridges that had been designated threats to the Eighth Army's line. These actions would devolve into the terrible battles that would become Bloody Ridge and Heartbreak Ridge.
