From an obituary posted on-line: Samuel Nakasian was an international lawyer and economist, and former administrator of the United States Marshall Plan.Mr. Nakasian was born on December 5, 1915, in Samsun, Turkey, (then the Ottoman Empire)…and after being orphaned by the Armenian genocide, immigrated to America with his two older sisters. Through The Children's Aid Society in New York, he found a home. At the onset of the Great Depression, he moved to New York City where he worked days and completed high school at night. He received a B.A. in Economics from New York University in 1940 and an M.A. in Economics from Columbia University in 1943. Mr. Nakasian moved to Washington in 1941 to serve in the Office of Price Administration (OPA) and the War Foods Administration. From 1943 until 1947, he worked for the Executive Office of President Roosevelt as Senior Economist in the United States Bureau of the Budget. He attended Georgetown Law School at night and earned an LLB from Georgetown in 1946. From 1948 until 1951, he served as Chief of the Price Branch for the United States Marshall Plan. He retired from government service in 1951 to enter private practice as an international lawyer and trade negotiator working in the Middle East, Asia and Europe. Good.
