The second of Marshall's seminal works on early railways this time dealing with the early steam locomotives and their builders, both in the UK and USA. Along with Warren's work this remains one of the most important sources on early locomotives. 270pp with many plates and drawings. Some spotting to edges, otherwise a VG copy in original blue cloth/gilt. The rather flimsy and rarely seen dust wrapper is present but rather worn with old tape repairs and some minor loss. Much the scarcer of Marshall's two main works.
