Jacket has minor wear to the edges, jacket flap has a 4" tear at the crease, binding sound, internally clean. Through photographs and anecdotes, Broadway author and director Mark Bramble presents the vast collection of antique tea caddies he and his late mother assembled over more than 5 decades of collecting. Explore the historical and societal atmospheres that engendered such varied styles of caddies and how interest in these treasures, created for storing tea, coincided with the competitive search for the formula to make "true" porcelain. The history behind the tea caddy reinforces the overlap between art and functionality, and how the culture of artistic creation is a random blend of geography, sociology, talent, and luck. In this generous volume, collectors are treated to an endearing reflection on a lifetime hobby of mother and son, whose collection encompasses centuries of worldwide artistic creation. In den WarenkorbThe opening-night script belonging to the music director, Peter Howard. The show combined musical theatre with circus entertainment and was a testament to America's fascination with P. T. Barnum (later manifested in The Greatest Showman). After previews, the show opened on 30 April 1980 on Broadway. It was nominated for ten Tony Awards and won three. The Broadway career of Cy Coleman (1929-2004) began in 1960 with Wildcat. It was followed by Little Me, with a book by Neil Simon. Colman and Simon collaborated with Dorothy Fields on the 1966 hit show, Sweet Charity (introducing the songs "Big Spender" and "The Rhythm of Life"). For many years, Coleman was part of the Broadway scene: Barnum (1980) and City of Angels (1989) were two of his other significant successes. The original cast for the Broadway production of Barnum included Jim Dale as P. T. Barnum and Glenn Close as Charity Barnum. Both were nominated for Tony Awards, although only Dale won. He was also nominated and won a Drama Desk Award. Howard (1927-2008) was a noted music director, arranger, and pianist. He served as either music director or dance music arranger for almost 40 Broadway shows, including Chicago, The Sound of Music, Hello Dolly!, Annie, and Crazy for You. He was also involved with the films of Mame, Annie, and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Quarto. Original red wrappers, front wrapper lettered in gilt comprising title, date, and recipient, inside of rear wrapper lettered in gilt with "studio duplicating service, inc." name and address. 68 Xerographic leaves printed on rectos only, secured by two brass screw brads. Slight creases to wrappers, some mild internal browning: near-fine.
