First edition of this poetry collection, including an introduction and a new poem by Yeats, "At Barcelona". Inspired by Margot Ruddock, Yeats's poem is better known under its later title, "A Crazed Girl", from the opening line: "That crazed girl improvising her music, / Her poetry, dancing upon the shore." (p. vii). The Lemon Tree was the sole poetry collection of Margot Ruddock (1907-1951), an English actress, singer, and aspiring poet. In 1934 she began a tumultuous affair with Yeats, who published some of her work in the Oxford Book of Modern Verse. Their correspondence was collected in Roger McHugh's Ah, Sweet Dancer (1970).
