Si affrontano vicende e problematiche scarsamente o mai approfondite come quelle relative alla vita politica, amministrativa e sociale dal primo dopoguerra alle elezioni del 1946, al ceto dirigente (podestà) e politico espresso dal fascismo locale fino alla rottura rappresentata dagli amministratori dei C.L.N. e dalle prime elezioni amministrative, con le drammatiche emergenze legate alla ricostruzione materiale e civile dei paesi. Attenzione viene dedicata alla complessa vicenda dei rapporti tra fascismo e chiesa locale, e all'attività dei parroci durante la lotta di Liberazione. Per la prima volta si ricostruisce per tutto il Mugello e la Valdisieve un panorama (con elenco riassuntivo) degli antifascisti durante il Ventennio. È offerto infine un nuovo contributo sulle vicende della Resistenza a Monte Giovi.
