The album cannot, of course, pretend to be a self-contained history, but is merely complementary, though it is hoped that it will be a valuable aid in the teaching of the history of our country. It does not go beyond 1910 because in that year the Free State ceased to exist as a separate and independent entity and its history since has been so closely interwoven with that of the Union of South Africa that it can hardly be separated from it.".
