Marco Page nació en Nueva York el 5 de enero de 1909, en el barrio conocido como la Cocina del infierno (Hell's Kitchen). Creció en Filadelfia y estudió periodismo en la universidad de Pensilvania, donde obtuvo su título de periodista y trabajó como reportero de libros y música para el Philadelphia Record en los años treinta. Después del éxito obtenido con su primera novela, marchó a Hollywood para convertirse en un apreciado guionista, carrera que se vio truncada a causa de su inclusión en las listas negras por su pertenencia, real o ficticia, al Partido Comunista Americano, junto a otros profesionales de la industria del espectáculo. Por ello se exilió en Europa durante diez años y siguió publicando para el mercado americano, con el seudónimo de Marco Page. Cansado de Hollywood, se instaló en Brooklyn, donde comenzó a escribir para el teatro, sin por ello perder su relación con el mundo cinematográfico. Como autor para la escena de Broadway su primera obra fue Reclining Figure (1954), basada en su novela del mismo título. Otras comedias fueron Once More, With Feeling! (1958), High Fidelity (1963) o el musical The Girl Who Came To Super. Su última aportación fue la comedia A Shot in the Dark, que se mantuvo más de un año en cartel y llegó a casi cuatrocientas representaciones. En 1965 creó unos premios en la universidad de UCLA para jóvenes escritores.
