Long notes Marchetti's description of… a case of ruptured aneurism of the aorta in a man who had suffered for ten years from abnormal pulsation in the left thorax; "this was presumably a syphilitic aneurism, not recognized by Bonet as such, in spite of the suggestion on this type of lesion by Fernel and Ambroise Paré (p.61).
