Their essays range across the rich traditions of Africa, Asia, Europe, and North and South America and examine the literary relations between the East and the West, the North and the South. They also explore movements, themes, forms, the history of ideas, relations between authors, and the foundations of criticism and theory. Each issue includes reviews of significant books by prominent scholars. One of its regular issues every two years concerns East-West literary and cultural relations and will be edited in conjunction with members of the College of International Relations at Nihon University. CLS does not publish notes and encourages submissions between 6,000 and 13,000 words. Comparative Literature Studies is bilingual, with articles in French and English. There is mild wear to the extremities including minor marks to the boards, Internally the pages are generally very clean and bright apart from some mild handling marks on a couple of pages. These volumes are ex-library copies, therefore there are library stamps sporadically throughout both volumes. The title page, and a page of contents are missing from the second volume.
