Original manuscript volume of unpublished poems dated 1811-1814. Titlepage, contents leaf, & 80 pages containing 27 poems, nearly all dated, concluding 'Finis'. 4to. Including translations and imitations from the classics, and Spencer; Lines to Bounoparte, Gigantomachia, Odes to Liberty, Ambition, and Death; Epigram on Thomas Taylor, Esq., Platonist; translation of Appius and Virginia a poem by J. James Pemberton Esq in Latin. A fair copy but with some corrections to text. Paper watermarked C. Wilmott. Contemporary diced calf; worn, boards firmly attached. 'Ex sedibus nostris Homertoni' - 'From Home in Homerton'. Homerton is now part of the London Borough of Hackney, East London. In the 18th Century it was an area tolerant of dissenters and non-conformists. The author could be William Day, 1797-1845, the lithographer & artist. …
