The music by Rossini, as represented at the Royal Opera House, London. Edited and translated by Manfredo Maggioni. 4 + 18 pp. with biography of Madame Grisi on second leaf. Second title page reads: The Principal Musical Gems of the Opera of Semiramide, Newly and Expressly Arranged as Piano Forte Solos. 2 + 6 (music) + 6 (ads) pp. Many interesting ads for New York businesses, dominated by ads for cloak makers, with others that are music-related, besides the usual ones for cure-all potions and lineaments. Especially interesting are ads for Tiffany & Co. and Brady's Daguerrian Galleries. Front wrapper has a facsimile signature of Giulia Grisi Mario as a guarantee of authenticity. Both parts were printed by John Darcie. WorldCat records a number of other libretti printed by him in the 1850s, but not this one.…
