Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Pluto and Triton are icy twins of the outer Solar System, 'born' in the same region but 'raised' under very different circumstances. This book provides a comprehensive review of the similarities and differences between various features of Pluto and Triton for a big-picture view of how these planetary bodies may be connected. In addition, the book reviews the far too limited spacecraft exploration that has been devoted to both of these planetary bodies and outlines the outstanding questions that future missions will need to answer. This book is suitable for researchers and graduate students alike in planetary science. It is not a course text but could be used for planetary science courses focused on the outer solar system.Key Features - Represents the first book to compare and contrast Pluto and Triton - Includes results from the New Horizons flyby of Pluto, one of the most exciting and scientifically impactful events in modern planetary exploration - Written by leading experts in the field - Identifies outstanding science questions and planning constraints for future missions.…

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This volume is a compilation of an International Workshop onComets as Tracers of Solar System Formation and Evolutionthat was held in Toulouse, France, from April 1-3, 2014, meantto prepare the community for the task of placing Rosetta observations within the greater context of using comets as tracers of solar system formation and evolution. More than 100 scientists from 18 different countries participated in this three-day science program, which was comprised of themed sessions and featured a mixture of invited reviews, invited and contributed talks and posters. These invited speakers included many of the community leaders in cometary science, measurements and technology development. The workshop covered topics ranging from the dynamical and chemical evolution of the solar nebula during formation, to the techniques for measuring the composition of comets. Of particular focus was the role that measurements made by Rosetta could be expected to play in understandingthe origin of solar system bodies. The purpose of this volume is to build upon the results of this workshop, providing a formal record of the state of knowledge leading into the Rosetta mission.Originally published in Space Science Reviews, Volume 197, Issues 1-4, 2015.…
