Issued by Peace News, a pacifist magazine first published on 6 June 1936 to serve the peace movement in the United Kingdom. A collection of articles seeking to answer the questions: why, in spite of the large amount of aid given by rich countries, do the poor stay poor while the rich get richer? and what can be done about this? Written by Sidney Lens, an American labor leader, political activist, and author; Andrew Gunder Frank, a German-American sociologist and economic historian; Malcolm Caldwell, a Scottish academic and a prolific Marxist writer; and Walter Birmingham, an Indian-born British educationist and economist who served as the warden of Toynbee Hall. With a foreword by Lord Boyd Orr, a Scottish teacher, medical doctor, biologist, nutritional physiologist, politician, businessman and farmer. Orr was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his scientific research into nutrition and work as the first Director-General of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. In the original paper wraps. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear and sunning to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Est jointe sa lettre d'accompagnement, signée. Malcolm Caldwell (1931-1978) était professeur à la School of Oriental and African Studies de l'Université de Londres, vice-Président de la Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament de Grande-Bretagne, membre du Comité Exécutif du Movement for Colonial Freedom de Grande-Bretagne, membre de la Première Commission d'Enquête du Tribunal International des Crimes de Guerre, etc Fils de mineur, nationaliste écossais marxiste, membre du Parti Travailliste, il consacra sa vie à la dénonciation de l'impérialisme occidental, en particulier américain, fut l'auteur de nombreux ouvrages, consacrés essentiellement à l'Asie, et un des fondateurs en 1970 du Journal of Contemporary Asia, publication dédiée à l'étude des mouvements révolutionnaires asiatiques. Soutenant le régime khmer rouge, il fut reçu à Phnom Penh, en audience privée, par Pol Pot le 22 décembre 1978 à l'issue d'une visite du Cambodge qu'il effectua pendant dix jours. Le soir même, après avoir confié à la journaliste Elisabeth Becker l'impression extrêmement favorable que lui avait fait le dirigeant cambodgien, il fut assassiné dans sa résidence par un commando d'hommes armés dont un membre fut tué sur place et deux arrêtés et exécutés peu de jours après, à la veille de la prise de Phnom Penh par les Vietnamiens. (Est joint le témoignage en anglais d'Elisabeth Becker relatif à l'attaque contre la résidence des hôtes à Phnom Penh au cours de laquelle Caldwell fut assassiné, extrait de son ouvrage "When the war was over. Cambodia and the Khmer Rouge revolution".) L'Union des Jeunesses Révolutionnaires Congolaises - UJRC était un mouvement clandestin de jeunes intellectuels congolais, étudiants en Europe en grande majorité, partisans des thèses chinoises et albanaises et soutenant les maquis mulélistes et soumialistes. Elle fut fondée début 1965. L'UJRC a publié de juin 1965 à avril 1967 la revue "L'Eclair" qui exerça une influence certaine sur de nombreux jeunes intellectuels progressistes mais aussi sur des combattants des maquis de diverses tendances. Elle appela début 1967 à la création de noyaux marxistes-léninistes, préalables à la création d'un parti marxiste-léniniste, mais son existence prit fin au cours de la même année. Léonard Mitudidi, militant du Parti Solidaire Africain - PSA, interrompt ses études à la Sorbonne fin 1960 pour se mettre au service du gouvernement Gizenga replié à Stanleyville, où fin 1961, il devient Secrétaire général-adjoint de la Jeunesse Nationaliste Lumumbiste tout en organisant le PSA à Stanleyville. Emprisonné après la fin du gouvernement Gizenga, il entre comme traducteur au Cabinet du ministre des Affaires étrangères Makiba Kalanda. Il fait partie du petit groupe de compagnons de Pierre Mulele qui décident en juillet 1963 la création d'un maquis au Kwilu et qui, le 27, quittent Léopoldville avec lui. Aussitôt arrivé au Kwilu, le 2 août, il est chargé par Mulele de retourner avec Thomas Mukwidi à Léopoldville pour convaincre les nationalistes de prendre les armes et pour se rendre en Afrique; il part avec Thomas Mukwidi, en novembre 1963, au Ghana, en Guinée, en Algérie puis en décembre en Chine, d'où ils reviennent tous deux, fin février 1964, à Brazzaville après avoir reçu une formation. Fin mars - début avril 1964, il entre au Comité militaire restreint du CNL qui est créé à Brazzaville, et rédige avec Mukwidi le Programme du CNL daté 15 avril 1964. Il se rend en juin 1964 au Kivu où il devient l'adjoint de Laurent-Désiré Kabila, chef des maquis de la région Fizi-Uvira. Il meurt à l'âge de 30 ans sur le lac Tanganyika.
