An association copy of the very scarce first edition of British military officer Ernest Gambier-Parry's 1914 novel, 'Ainslie Gore'.With a loosely inserted double sided two leaf letter from the author's brother's widow, Maud Gambier-Parry. Her late husband, Sidney Gambier-Parry was a British architect, and remained close to his brother throughout his life. Maud was his second wife, and writes:'Dear Mr Thompson, I know you will be sorry that my dear Husband Sidney Gambier-Parry, and your friend, for I am sure you were very fond of him, has died, it was on the 17th November and the funeral was held in Cirencester Church on the 2nd and he was taken and was buried in a grave next to his 1st wife's grave, that has been arranged before he and I married each other'. She mentions that 'the house is going to be sold and the money goes to his 6 grandchildren, that was settled before my Sid knew me'. Dated December 22nd, 1948.With the inscription K.
