This book thus, attempts to address issues pertaining to transnational terrorism; their ideology, the modus operandi, use of technology, cyber and informative space, financial transactions, etc. Further, the book attempts to have a cross fertilisation and synthesization of perspectives from various regions in order to identify evolving trends, and then articulate a comprehensive, collective approach to combat transnational terrorism in all its manifestations.

Benedikt von Nursia, Abt, Patriarch der abendländischen Mönche und Stifter des Benediktinerordens, mit grösserem Strahlenkranz (Heiligenschein, Gloriole, Aureole), in Ordenshabit, einem von zwei kräftigen Männern nur mühsam gehaltenen, sich heftig sträubenden Priester einen kleinen, drachenartigen Dämon austreibend. Im Hintergrund angedeutet eine weitere wundertätige Szene - Kräftiger, wohl sehr früher Abzug, mit noch sichtbaren Linierungen in der untersten Titel- u. der Fusszeile, bzw. mit feinsten Wischspuren im rechten weissen Rand -- In der Legende des hl. Benedikt selten zu lokalisierender Exorzismus, hier an einem ev. 'Weltpriester' - Gregorius Magnus beschreibt in Kap. 30 seiner Vita S.P.N. Benedicti die Befreiung eines Mönchs von einem Dämon: 'De Monacho a daemone liberato': "Malignus vero spiritus unum seniorem Monachum invenit aquam haurientem: in quem statim ingressus est, eumque in terram projecit, & vehementissime vexavit. Quem cum vir Dei ab orationes rediens, tam crudeliter vexati conspiceret, ei solummodo alapam dedit, & malignum ab eo spiritum protinus excuisset, ita ut ad eum redute ulterius non auderet." (Köln, Crithius 1663, p. 75) - P. K. Brandes OSB berichtet: "Sehr häufig sind die Beispiele, daß teuflische Umstrickungen und Besessenheit durch den Heilligen geheilt wird. [.]So ward auch ein Cleriker von Aquin arg vom Teufel geplagt. [.] Endlich ward er auch zu Benedikt geführt. Dieser [.] trieb alsbald den bösen Feind aus dem armen Menschen aus." Miniato al Monte, Sakristei, nach 1387). Eine gewisse Ähnlichkeit zumindest von der Dramatik, aber auch von der Komposition her, zeigt eine grössere Radierung aus der 1. Hälfte des 17. Jhs. von Simone Cantarini, gen. il Pesarese (1612-1648), nach einem verlorenen Fresko von Ludovico Carracci in S. Michele in Bosco in Bologna (Abb. in: Hamburger Kunsthalle, Kupferstichkabinett, Ref. Inv. Nr. 2151) -- Vergleichbare Sujets gibt es in den online zugänglichen Sammlungen von Arbeiten Martin Engelbrechts (Augsburg 1684-1756 ibid.) nur vereinzelt: so z.B. ein Fidelis von Sigmaringen ('C.Pr.S.C.M.', Nr. 213), sowie einen heiligen Ordensmann der Praemonstratenser, Hermann [-Joseph von Steinfeld, O.Praem.] mit Nr. 249, der Signatur 'Mart. Engelbr. sc. et exc. AV', und der Bezeichnung 'Cum Priv. S.M.', die damit das 'quasi-Monogramm' erklärt : Cum Privilegio Sacrae Caesareae Majestatis, "with the privilege of the Holy Imperial Majesty or Holy Roman Empire."
