Hardcover. Zustand: Good. Hardcover. Bound in full leather, appears to be original late 17th/early 18th century French binding, with full brown leather, 5 raised cords, gold lettering in French. Leather is cracked at the front hinge, revealing cords beneath. Still securely bound, but not as attractive at the others in this series. Some overall darkening to the leather, but binding and text block both secure and clean. Slightly shelf-cocked. Marbled endpapers. Title page dated 1698. Preface + 702 pages. Text in French. Each page is ruled with straight lines in faded red ink framing the text and header. Measures 4 x 7 inches. No mention of the translator, but this appears to be the the work of Louis-Isaac Lemaistre de Sacy. Sacy's translation of the the Gospel of St. Mark with extensive notes. Spine stamping indicates that this is Vol XXXI, so presumably there was a set of his full Bible translation, of which this is a singleton volume (though title page does not mention). Please email with questions or to request photos. If you see a photo beside this listing, please be aware that it s an ABE Stock Photo (whatever that is) and not a photo of this book.
