82pp. Text in Indonesian. 19 x 13.5cm. Browned, little light pencilling some leaves, a good copy. From the library of Professor C. Skinner. Early post-war Balai Poestaka reprint of Aman Datuk Madjoindo?s social novel, first published in 1934 and later issued in several editions. The title refers to the proverbial expression ?si cebol rindukan bulan?, suggesting an impossible or socially unsuitable longing. The novel treats themes of marriage, status, adat, ambition and ethnic prejudice, and is a representative Balai Pustaka work by a recognised Indonesian author. Uncommon in this 1949 old-spelling edition.
