Romanzo di argomento amoroso, non eccelso…sul piano stilistico, ma assai fortunato e più volte tradotto anche in epoche recenti, «Gli amori di Ismenia e Ismene», composti intorno al 1166, sono apertamente ispirate al romanzo di Achille Tazio «Le avventure di Leucippe e Clitofonte», con tutto il loro bagaglio di rapimenti, fughe d'amore, colpi di scena e lieto fine. Per il vero nome dell'autore Eumazio e non Eustazio si veda l'intervento decisivo in «Wiener Studien», 1903, XXV, p. 182-209. -- La traduzione latina si deve a Gilbert Gaulmin (1585-1665), coltissimo filologo di Molines: una prima edizione uscì nel 1617 senza dedicatoria, senza avviso e senza indice, ma soprattutto senza il fondamentale apparato di note finali. La nostra (del 1618) è completa in ogni sua parte, e definita dal Graesse (II, 527) «introuvable». in 8°, bella legatura in piena pelle, doppia cornice ai piatti (in oro e impressa), nervi, impressioni, tassello e dorature al dorso, pp. [16] 447 [1] 45 [3 bianche]. Testatine, capilettera incisi, testo greco in carattere corsivo e testo latino a fronte. Prima edizione completa. Ottimo esemplare (pagine lievemente brunite in maniera uniforme per la qualità della carta).
