Translated by Stephen Mackenna, a linguist and important translator as he introduced Plotinian philosophy to a new generation of readers. Plotinus was a major philosopher of the Roman empire. The following works are present to this set: Plotinus: The Ethical Treatises Plotinus: Psychic & Physical Treatises Plotinus: On The Nature of The Soul Plotinus: The Divine Mind Volume IV has additional spine label and title label tipped in to the rear. Volumes I-III have a notice to the verso of title page stating that 1000 copies of the work were printed on rag paper. This set comprises of only the first four works to this series. There were eventually five volumes, with the fifth volume a collaboration between Mackenna and B.S Page. In original quarter cloth bindings with paper covered boards. Externally, generally smart. Some marks to boards and minor rubbing to the head and tail of spine. Spine labels are faded. Spine label to volume I is chipped and lifting. Some offsetting to endpapers. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound. Volume IV is uncut at top edge. Pages are bright with the odd spots throughout. Good. book.
