Lovely copy of this uncommon and out of print book detailing the rich tradition of artists in Soho, particularly centered around 80 Wooster street where George Maciunas, de facto leader of the Fluxus movement, and many others lived, worked, and showed their work. 300 pages, many illustrations in color and b/w with copious text elaborating the rise, peak, and inevitable decline of this near utopian experience of artists in NYC. Excellent condition. Binding solid, sturdy, square, albeit with one crease running the length of the spine, which although not detrimental to the overall integrity of binding, is however noticeable when open to the page at which it is creased. Very minor traces of shelfwear, tinnily rubbed or scuffed edges and corners, though hardly so and all negligible, with the book also now covered in mylar. Interior bright white, clean, free of marks of any kind. Overall a lovely copy of this rich and informative volume.

Tellus was an audio cassette magazine based out of Manhattan, active between 1983 and 1993. Strongly inspired by Fluxus and no wave art, the publication was founded by visual artist and noise musician Joseph Nechvatal, Shaker Museum curator Claudia Gould, and new music composer and Harvestworks director Carol Parkinson.
