The previous owner's name is written in ink on front end page. There is foxing and some staining to the page edges and some of the pages. Despite the stated flaws, a nice copy of a first printing of this title. ; The main character, Barry O'Neill, emigrates to America, but is falsely imprisoned. While in prision he falls in with a group of Irish revolutionaries. To complicate matters he also falls in love. The story gives the reader a view of Irish-American life at the turn of the century. ; frontispiece; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 336 p. pages; Copyright information includes "Publishe September, 1917" with the code "I-R", indicating Sept1917. Includes four pages of advertising for Harper titles. This book was the basis of a 1920 movie of the same name.
