The publisher's original green cloth boards show significant rubbing, general discolouration, and some mottled fading, particularly across the rear panel and spine. The extremities demonstrate moderate wear, with bumping to the corners and slight fraying to the cloth at the head and tail of the spine. Despite these external flaws, the gilt harp and shamrock tooling on the upper cover, as well as the gilt spine titling, have survived remarkably bright and unoxidised. Internally, the pages present without major tears but do exhibit light, scattered foxing and age-toning, most prominently on the preliminary leaves, alongside standard signs of careful historical reading.
