Her poetry links multiple poetic constellations of the 1970s and 1980s demonstrating linguistic innovations and radical reconfigurations sexuality and gender. An original typescript submitted to Julia Newman, a small press publisher based in San Francisco, as stated on the title page: "A Maelstrom Production". The book was later published in an expanded edition in 1977 by ManRoot (San Francisco), under the title: "A Lesbian Estate: Poems 1970-1973". Accompanied by two letters and two autograph notes from Lonidier to Julia Newman. Very good or better overall. A poet, musician, multimedia and theater performance artist, Lynn Lonidier often described herself as a "card-carrying anarchafeminist". She was active in the San Francisco literary scene, especially within the lesbian-feminist community during the 1970s until her death in 1993. A member of the Feminist Writers Guild, her published volumes of verse also include *The Female Freeway*, published by Julia Newman in 1970, and *Woman Explorer* (1979). A cellist, she studied composition and collaborated with Pauline Oliveros at the University of California at San Diego. Julia Newman founded The Tenth Muse, a book store and small press imprint (also known as "A Maelstrom Production") in the late 1960s in San Francisco. The poet Robert Duncan, a financial partner in the enterprise, was an important influence on Lonidier's poetry. The Tenth Muse closed in the mid-1970s, prior to the publication of *A Lesbian Estate* in 1977. Among the correspondence is a three-page autograph card written to Julia Newman circa 1972-73, in which Lonidier discusses *Female Freeway* and the unpublished *A Lesbian Estate*, along with other current projects: "Dear Julia My agent submitted Female Freeway & A Lesbian Estate to an editor at Morrow who wanted to get the volumes published together, however decided Morrow couldn't cope with it. She's now trying to get some of my poetry into New York Quarterly & this editor took as much stuff from Female Freeway as from later collection & I wanted you to know because I've always considered you such an integral part (if you don't mind being a part) of Female Freeway . I'll be offering my Women & Creativity class at Univ. of Wash. again We're working on a theater piece involving microscopic action of sugar & salt granules dissolving, projected on the wall overlapping particularly intense photographs " An important early typescript of Lonidier's poetry and associated correspondence, documenting the lesbian-feminist literary community in San Francisco during the early 1970s.…
