In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: good. Presumed first thus. 791 pages, footnotes, appendix, index, marbled endpapers, half-leather binding (edges worn), slight foxing on a few pages. Volumes 2 ONLY of the three-volume set. Text is in English. Subtitled: In quo plerasque justi historici dotes desiderari, plerosque naevos inesse, ostendit Grat…ianus Lucius, Hibernus, qui etiam aliquot res memorabiles Hibernicas veteris et vovae memoriae passim e re nata huic operi inseruit. Cambrensis Eversus has been generally esteemed one of the most valuable works on the history of Ireland. Viewed merely as a refutation of Giraldus de Barry, it was on some points unsuccessful, but its comprehensive plan, embracing a great variety of well-digested and accurate information on every period of Irish history, makes it a valuable work. Lynch defends the cessation of 1643, the peace of 1646 and 1648, condemns the nuncio, and approves the general policy of Ormonde. This volume contain the bookplate of Peter Lanyon-Orgill (1924-2002), a bizarre linguistic charlatan who was responsible for a rather large body of work that he apparently purloined from legitimate linguists over his lengthy career.
