Red cloth, titled in gilt on spine & upper board. Cloth faded & used. Pencil presentation inscription on front end-paper "John Arkwright, from the Author. Dr. Lupton, Stratford on Avon, 1899." This confirms both the date of publication (usually given as 1900), and the identity of the author. Sporting poems, mostly on horses and hunting, reprinted from Bell's Life, Horse and Hound, Leamington Spa Courier, the Fishing Gazette, and Baily's Magazine. One of the poems is titled "The Durham Ranger: A Tale Of The Usk," beginning, "A salmon swam out in the Severn Sea." This was first published in the Fishing Gazette, January 11th, 1890 under the pen-name, "Harry L." .

Externally, slight damp staining to the boards and fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound and bright, although with instances of light foxing. Previous owner's ink stamp to the front free endpaper. Good. book.
