Not to be confused with the 2001 film, directed by Brian Robbins starring Keanu Reeves, the 1994 Fox television series about a fictional American League baseball team, or the 2019 Australian children's television series. Created by Robert Plam, the series, about a veteran plainclothes detective, Charles Battles (John Ashton), who is about to be reassigned to a desk job or forced into retirement, and is forced to partner with a young unconventional detective, Joe "Kaz" Kaczierowski (Richard Tyson), with whom he is constantly at odds, aired for one season of 18 episodes, before ending on June 29, 1980. In the premiere episode, Battles finds out he's about to be reassigned to desk job and is partnered with the young hotshot "Kaz", before being quickly assigned to protect a key witness, the wife of a mobster and an old girlfriend of Battles, who is about to testify against her husband. Larson and Christopher Crow, and starred Greg Evigan as Billie Joe "B.J." McKay, a freelance trucker who travels the highways of the US with his pet chimpanzee, Bear. The series premiered on October 4, 1978 and aired for three seasons and 46 episodes ending on May 9, 1981. In this episode, B.J. travels to Florida to visit his war buddy Charlie, when their reunion is cut short by a helicopter crash, which B.J. and a marine patrolwoman set about investigating.
