The volume is tightly bound in a handsome contemporary full calf binding, which remains structurally sturdy despite some mild rubbing to the extremities and slight wear to the spine ends. The intricate gilt and blind tooling on the boards and spine remains bright and largely unoxidized, retaining much of its original elegance. The decorated edges of the text block are well-preserved, though slightly darkened with age. Internally, the hinges are sound and the text block is firm. The pages exhibit some moderate age-toning and localized foxing, most notably along the margins of the preliminary leaves and the title page, alongside faint historic moisture marks near the gutter. Early ownership inscriptions are present on the front endpapers in ink, but the text and the fine wood-engravings remain clean, legible, and well-preserved throughout. Catalogue Note: This 1812 publication represents the first collected edition of Samuel Rogers' poetry. It brings together his highly acclaimed works, including The Pleasures of Memory, in a single, elegantly produced volume.
