FOUR AND TWENTY TOILERS represents the intersection of a pair of Golden Age greats: Edmund Evans and F. D. Bedford. When TOILERS was published, Bedford's career was at its zenith, and his "popularity rivalled that of H. R. Millar and Charles Robinson" (Dalby, 56). Evans's printing processes translated his art into book form beautifully.
