Soft cover. Zustand: Good. Softcover. Original softcover bulletin, now housed in stiff-covered binding with dark red spine and plain gray cardstock boards. Binding plain, but clean and tight. Tom Lovejoy's name signed on the front cover. Small white spine sticker with the number 10, 249 on it, from what we are guessing is an inventory of Lovejoy's collection. Small label pasted to the front cover says 'Ornithology Library'. Original wraps bound in. Pages 218-275, followed by 3 plates of black and white photographs. Small sticker on the front cover with library information (handwritten) noting that this is 'Copy 2'. Additional pencil notations on copyright page with the same numbers. Handwritten on the title page, a librarian has added that 'The Museum' mentioned is the University of Museum of Comparative Zoology at Harvard. Some normal toning from age, but overall good condition. This book is from the collection of Thomas Lovejoy. Dr. Lovejoy was an influential ecologist, field biologist, and activist; former head of the Amazon Biodiversity Center, World Wildlife Fund, and advisor to the United Nations and Smithsonian Institution. He is credited with introducing the term 'biological diversity' to the mainstream environmental movement. In addition, he was a passionate collector of books on the natural world.
