Il explique comment, au cours de l'histoire, une civilisation supplante une autre en l'amalgamant et en l'anéantissant, faisant ainsi évoluer les races. Selon lui, c'est un processus naturel de l'histoire, une lutte perpétuelle et sans progrès; la civilisation et le droit naissent donc du conflit des races!!! (sic) La guerre devient un facteur de civilisation (sic). Signalons que la pensée de Karl Marx a fortement influencé Gumplowicz, vers une vision impérialiste et guerrière du socialisme.
