Boards show rubbing from age and rear gutter is visible through spine in places. Though the binding feels loose, especially the rear board, all pages remain intact and book is whole. Pages are clean and unmarked. Advertised as containing 100 illustrated plates, most of which are handsome black and white illustrations, though two full page color plates are present (Frontispiece and between pgs. 184/185) as well as a number of full page half tone engravings in blue.
