Neat owner name and ink annotation of Ebenezer Putnam, Esq. on the front cover, who is listed in the publication as an "Honorary and Corresponding" member. Wrappers worn with a neatly strengthened tear at the crown, text block a bit rippled (from improper storage, not moisture), foxing throughout, sound but good only. Prints several items of horticultural interest, including the publication of a 15-page letter from Club president N. Longworth read at the club in December 1845. The topic of the letter is the "Cultivation of the Grape, and Manufacture of Wine; also on the Character and Habits of the Strawberry Plant. ." The society was apparently the catalyst of a major increase in the production of wine in the Midwest. Very uncommon.…
