In den WarenkorbA complete run of Envoy magazine, published for "people of various types and tastes, but with one thing in common - lively, intelligent, curious minds" (introduction). The contributors to the hundreds of articles include Nicholas Monsarrat, Irving Wallace, Tennessee Williams, Albert Camus, and Ogden Nash. Envoy was established by Logan Gourlay and his art editor, Jacquie Timmins Eliot. The magazine enjoyed an international distribution and its articles covered a wide range of topics, from the social significance of crime novels to the music of Mozart, the horses of Africa, the fashion of the Soviet Union, and Mediterranean cuisine. In Issue 5 the likes of Robert Graves, James Baldwin, Nancy Mitford, W. H. Auden, and Kingsley Amis gave their unvarnished opinions on the Vietnam War. Issue 10 featured a special report on Salvador Dali, for which his paintings were specially photographed at his Spanish villa by Robert Whittaker. Issue 11 dedicated 8 pages to the changing face of Japan over the 100 years since the Meiji Restoration. These articles and more were accompanied by editorials, reviews, and recipe guides. 12 issues bound in 1 vol., large quarto (337 x 262 mm). Half-tone and colour illustrations throughout. Original binder, black boards, spine and front board lettered in gilt, each issue in original pictorial wrappers (1 folding), binder's ticket to rear cover verso. Advertisement in Issue 12, p. 7 excised. Binder a little bumped at edges, skinning on inner rear board and head of final issue, minor toning and offsetting internally: excepting the final issue, a well-preserved run.…
